There are many benefits of MINDFULNESS for kids but one of the best ones is a feeling of relaxation. An easy calm down exercise to remember is to ‘Smell the Roses’ and then ‘Blow Out the Candle’.
Exposure to the outdoors and ecology is important in early childhood and can even encourage them to be mindful in nature. Kids can develop a positive relationship with the outdoors from a young age and become more mindful of it.
It’s not easy to always be mindful of the words that we use, but becoming more aware of them in speech and in writing is important. The right words can send a positive message of hope and positivity for kids. However, negative word choices can impact our brain and stress levels. And, ‘blah’ or ‘ho-hum’ words are just plain boring.

Spring cleaning is not just for our houses, but can also be about tidying up our office space as well. Even children’s authors need to spring clean. My office is housed in my ‘Grandma’ room, where books and toys are available for the grandkids when they come.
I believe in the power of positivity in kids. My website, www.gracelynkeyskids.com, went live in March of 2023, with important wellness-related books and videos for kids. Before it went live, I created whimsical and smiling Keys Kids’ characters to match the ‘soft and wavy’ design of the website. Consequently, I wanted the characters to be positive and represent a variety of kids. I also wanted characters that were simple enough for kids to remember, recreate, and draw themselves.
It’s fun to make people smile or even laugh-out-loud. Smiling is great for our brain and body! Jokes are great for kid’s development too. There are many health benefits.
