Tidying Up My Video and Book Displays
Spring cleaning is not just for our houses, but can also be about tidying up our office space as well. Even children’s authors need to spring clean. Located in my ‘Grandma’ room, this is where books and toys are available for the grandkids when they come.
Can You Have Too Many Books?
But as I obtain more and more children’s books that I use as comparative titles for my own books, I’m finding that I’m running out of room for all of them. Since I refer to each of them from time-to-time, it’s necessary to house them all. So, I’m finding creative ways to display and organize them.
Reorganizing the Layout of My Office
I’m also working on organizing the layout of my office better, with a day bed instead of a twin bed, so the grandkids will have more space to lounge around together. Now, brightly-colored plastic file boxes store my picture book manuscripts, as messy piles on the desk no longer seem to work. Lastly, I’m hanging up the grandkids art and displaying it on my walls and front facing shelves with the books. Their artwork not only brings me joy, it provides inspiration for my stories.
Tidying Up My Videos Too
During this time, I’ve been working on tidying up my display of over forty wellness-videos available on my new website. Children’s authors need to spring clean what’s out on the internet too.
Now, the videos can easily be found by going to each specific topic on my website under a specific wellness-topic, like positivity, the theme for this month, www.gracelynkeyskids.com/videos#positivity.
Reorganizing the videos on my YouTube site under playlists for each wellness-related topic is happening too. They will be easier to find with just a click.
Are you doing spring cleaning in your office too?

Fun Fact About Me – I Organized T-Ball for Our Local Community
I love baseball and softball! Starting with the youngest kids in T-ball, our community has a great program for kids. When our kids were very young, I organized T-Ball for the community for many years. My husband and I coached one of the teams too.
Littlest Kiddos Played T-Ball
We had about 100 kids in the program, ranging from 4-6 years old. It was a fun-filled activity with kids, parents, and coaches learning new skills. But once-in-a while, it became stressful, when a child’s parent became too competitive. Watching the kids learn and grow in that sport filled my heart with joy.
Coach Pitch Worked Best
In addition, we changed the program to a coach pitch process, so that the kids had an easier transition into baseball or softball. They could hit a ball that was pitched to them, instead of just off the tee. Having the option of choosing the tee first, most kids wanted to try the coach-pitch.
Cherish Those Memories
The program is ongoing today. I cherish the memories of those little ones running the bases for the first time, smacking a ball with the bat, or watching a hit ball as it ran between their legs. And of course, some of the kids just wanted to be outside and pick their share of dandelions while out in the field. Smile…
